I grew up in Düsseldorf in a family of watch lovers. My first timepiece was a gift from my grandfather in 1985: a Citizen Promaster Aqualand with an electronic depth gauge. Many years and several watches later, my father's well-worn Rolex Submariner "Hulk" and, more recently, my mother's banging Rolex GMT-Master II "Rootbeer" followed. In the course of the last few years, a number of watches have changed hands within the family. The sentimental value of a watch that has been passed on cannot be measured in terms of money. I'm fascinated by the iconic designs as well as the comfort and longevity of these beautiful timepieces, which can be passed down from generation to generation. As far as my personal buying habits are concerned, the sustainability of a product plays an essential role in the decision to buy. Being quality-conscious certainly comes at a price, but often also provides lasting feelings of happiness for years to come. Having an opportunity to write about watches as a Chrono24 magazine author is a matter of the heart for me, and brings me enormous pleasure.
